Libraries doing coding in Ghana
To whom it may concern,
Through our collaboration with Tangible in the Digital Learning @ Ghana Public Libraries project, implemented by EIFL in partnership with the Ghana Library Authority, we have seen first-hand the impact of their innovative approach to teaching coding and computational thinking to young learners.
Tangible tools, especially the Rangers game, have enabled libraries to offer engaging, inclusive, and accessible learning experiences for children and youth. By using unplugged, game-based methods, librarians can introduce essential digital and problem-solving skills even in communities with limited technological infrastructure. For many students, this is their first exposure to coding concepts, and the approach makes learning both enjoyable and confidence-building.
In Ghana, librarians have successfully integrated Tangible activities into digital learning programmes and school outreach sessions. Through these activities, students develop computational thinking skills while also building curiosity, creativity, and confidence to explore technology further.
Tangible’s work demonstrates how innovative educational tools can be successfully adapted and scaled through public libraries across Africa, helping to expand digital learning opportunities for young people. It has been a pleasure to collaborate, and we strongly believe in the continued positive impact of this work.
With best wishes,
